If you are looking for a casual atmosphere, great home made Mayan food near the beach, for an incredibly reasonable price Imelda's Good Food is your kind of spot. Imelda is the owner, and you will usually find her back in her kitchen cooking up some the best home made food. Imelda's is located between the CEA Center, TSA and the Dive Shop. It is a small palapa-roofed, open air restaurant with a few tables and chairs on the patio. | Imelda serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. On Monday and Thursday nights at 7:00 there is the La Noche Maya – Mayan Buffet and Mayan Dance. For 200 pesos per person the menu includes: - Toasted pumpkin seed dip (pepita molida) - Nose of the dog salsa picante (xinek-pec) - Cream cheese empanadas (empanadas de queso crema) - Mixed fruit salad (sheck de frutas con papaya, jicama y naranja) - Fried tomato salad (salsa de tomate frito) - Yucatecan chicken with rice and beans (pollo pibil incluye arroz y frijol) - For desert Pedro´s famous flan and typical Yucatán jamaica drink. Reservations are required.

Or, if you are in the mood for something more American, order the french toast. The lunch menu changes daily and is always great. You will find a chicken, pork and vegetarian selection each day. In the evenings when there is no Mayan Buffet Imelda serves tamales and tacos.
