 | Looking for the perfect spot right
on the water, a place where locals gather and things haven't changed much in
years? Look no further than Lol-Ha Beach Bar. Casual dining at its best and if
you stop by for Happy Hour, when drinks are half price, you will more than
likely run into some of the local wildlife. Lol-Ha Beach Bar is open for
breakfast, lunch and dinner year round. This restaurant is open air with a
gorgeous palapas roof. It never gets too hot because the tropical breeze off the
bay cools it down nicely. Lol-Ha is the oldest eating establishment in Akumal and for years people have been enjoying the view,
food, drinks and friendly staff. | Start your morning with a relaxing
breakfast, enhanced by the soft sounds of the ocean and you will quickly realize
why this spot is one of the favorite tourist spots. Located directly on the
beach in Akumal Playa, it is a convenient spot to quench your thirst after
snorkeling in the bay. The salsa is made fresh daily – so fresh it is never
exactly the same two days in a row. Their soup menu also changes daily and there
is a wide variety of snacks and meal items to choose from – guaranteed something
for everyone.

Lol-Ha Restaurant has one of the loveliest views anywhere. It is
located right on the beach in Akumal, next door to the Lol-Ha Beach Bar but with
a very different feel. The waiters are superb and very attentive. The menu has a
wide variety of choices and many nights there is entertainment from Jazz to
Flamingo Dancers. For those who want a more romantic setting be sure to ask
about their private dining. They will set you up in a tent like something out of
Arabian Knights – white and flowing in the ocean breeze. Your candle-lit dinner
will be served by your own private staff. It is a memory that will last a life
time.
There are so many wonderful items on the menu that it's difficult
to recommend just a few. The appetizers are divine. The last time we ate there
we enjoyed the smoked salmon quesadillas which were light and wonderful One of
my favorites is the Lol-Ha Salad - a wonderful combination of romaine lettuce,
tomatoes and avacado tossed in a wonderful creamy dressing. Lol-Ha also offers
great homemade soups, with specials that change nightly. The night we dined,
seafood seemed to be everyone's choice. The salmon wrapped in banana leaves was
moist and simply wonderful. The shrimp were a hit and the Tuna lightly grilled
with wasabi was excellent.

With all the great foods to choose from be sure to save room for desert and
maybe a flaming Mayan Coffee. It is almost as much fun to watch them prepare
these drinks as it is to sip it under the moonlight while listening to the water
lap along the shore.
